JennAir JGCP536WP Pro-Style Griddle Rangetop Service

The JGCP536WP is a 36-inch Pro-Style gas rangetop with four burners and a griddle. It offers power and precision for different cooking techniques and is set into a counter under a strong hood.
The griddle collects grease, and that grease can reach the burner and igniter below. For that reason we inspect and clean the griddle burner first, then run the flame along the plate. The four open burners get cap, port and igniter checks, and the valves behind the knobs are tested last. If gas is ever smelled, go outside and call the gas utility. You will see the price in writing before we start, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows. Please clear the cabinet under the rangetop before we arrive, since valve and wiring checks often happen from below. We also look for drippings that have crept past the seals.
Built-up grease on the plate or in the burner area is the usual reason. We clean the area, check the flame and look for leaks of drippings toward the igniter.
If the burner is clean and sparks but does not light, the valve may not be opening. We test the igniter and the gas flow separately to find which one has failed.
The other burners work independently, so careful use is generally fine. A gas smell is the exception: leave the house and call the gas utility from outside.
