Ice Maker Repair in Houston

Built-in ice makers produce clear cubes only when water, cooling and drainage all work together. When the bin stays empty or the cubes turn cloudy and small, we trace the cause and give you a written price first.

01What goes wrong

Common ice maker problems we fix

In the order we see them across Houston homes.

01

Bin stays empty or fills very slowly

02

Cubes come out small, cloudy or hollow

03

Water leaks onto the floor beneath

04

Ice tastes or smells stale

05

Unit runs but never drops a harvest

06

Drain pump gurgles or fails to empty

JennAir ice makers come as undercounter units with a drain pump, as clear-ice models for the bar, and as the ice section built into a refrigerator or freezer column. All of them depend on a clean water line, a clear condenser and a drain that moves water out without backing up.

Houston water carries a lot of minerals, and scale slowly narrows tubes and coats the evaporator plate. Add heat from a nearby oven or a closed-in cabinet, and the unit simply cannot freeze fast enough. Owners often notice it first before a party, when the bin is still empty.

We check water flow, the condition of the plate, the drain and the condenser, then clean and flush the system as part of the repair.

05Ice Maker questions
Why is my ice maker producing so little ice?

Slow production usually comes from a dirty condenser, a clogged water filter or an inlet valve that is not passing enough water. We test each one and tell you which part is limiting the output.

How often should the water filter be changed?

Follow the interval on your display or the manual, and change it sooner if your water is hard. A filter left too long cuts flow and makes the ice taste flat.

Why are my cubes cloudy?

Cloudy ice often means minerals in the water or a unit that needs cleaning. Descaling and a fresh filter typically bring back clear cubes, and we flush the lines while we are there.
