On JennAir built-in wall ovens, including the JJW2830DS and JJW9830DDP, an F5 E3 means the control sees a problem with the lower oven door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring that connects them. It is a double-oven or combination-oven code, because it points at the lower cavity only. You will usually see it on the display with a beep, and the lower oven may refuse to heat or to run a clean cycle while the upper oven keeps working.
1. Press Cancel, then open and firmly close the lower oven door. 2. Check that nothing, such as a pan handle or foil, keeps the lower door from seating. 3. Turn the oven breaker off for one minute and back on to clear the display. 4. Try a short bake in the lower oven. If F5 E3 returns, stop using the lower cavity and call us.
The code names the lower oven door circuit only, so the upper oven often keeps working. Use it with care and watch for the code showing again, and avoid starting a self-clean on either cavity until the lower latch is checked.
The control reads the latch and door switch each time the door shuts. If either one reports an odd state, or the wiring to it is loose, the control posts F5 E3 at that moment.
A reset can clear a one-time glitch, so it is worth one try. If the code comes back on the next lower-oven use, the latch assembly, switch or wiring needs a technician to test it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
