What Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab, or 5A7 means

On JennAir built-in wall ovens such as the JJW2830DS and JJW9830DDP, Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A7 means Sabbath Mode is enabled. Sabbath Mode keeps the oven on in a Bake setting until turned off, and only Bake works while it is set. All other cooking and cleaning cycles are disabled. No tones sound and the display does not show temperature changes. The instruction is to cancel Sabbath Mode when you want normal use.

Common causes of Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab, or 5A7

1. Find the Sabbath or Settings pad on the control. 2. Follow the on-screen path to cancel Sabbath Mode. 3. Wait until the display returns to the time of day. 4. Start a normal bake to confirm the oven responds. If the mode will not cancel, reset power at the breaker for a minute.

Why is my oven not changing temperature on the display?

In Sabbath Mode the display does not show temperature changes and no tones sound. That is by design, and the oven stays on in Bake until you turn it off.

Can I use broil or self-clean?

No. Only Bake works in Sabbath Mode, and all other cooking and cleaning cycles stay disabled until you cancel the mode from the control. Once it is canceled, they work again as usual.

Does 5Ab mean something is wrong?

No. 5Ab and 5A7 are display versions of Sabbath, and they show that the mode is on. Cancel the mode and the display returns to normal, with no repair needed.
