JennAir JEC3430BS Four-Element Radiant Cooktop (30-Inch)

The JEC3430BS is a 30-inch electric radiant cooktop with four elements under a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. It drops into the standard cutout for a 30-inch cooktop, so it is often a swap-in when an older coil or gas unit has been replaced, with the wiring supplied from below the counter.
With four elements and a simple layout, trouble shows up quickly. One ring that no longer glows, or heats only half the time, is usually its own element, switch or connection rather than a problem for the whole cooktop. A hot-surface light that goes out can hide the fact that the glass is still dangerously warm.
We test each element and its switch individually, then look at the glass and the terminal connections. Our visit includes a written price before work and a 30-day workmanship warranty on the repair.
Likely, but the switch or a loose connection can look the same. We test continuity on the element and the voltage at its switch, and quote only the part that is bad.
Radiant glass holds heat for a while, which is why the indicator light matters. If the light does not come on, we check its circuit. Treat the surface as hot until it is cool to the touch.
Use a cleaner made for glass-ceramic tops, and only when the surface is cool. Harsh pads and dry scraping leave marks. If a burn-on stain will not clear, we can advise during the visit.
