JennAir JXI8042WS Island Canopy Hood
The JXI8042WS is a 42-inch Euro-Style island-mount canopy hood, wide enough for larger cooktops and rangetops placed in an island. The extra width covers more of the cooking surface than a 36-inch canopy does.
A wider canopy collects more grease and puts more strain on the blower, so we often find heavy buildup on the wheel and in the first stretch of duct. Switches and lamps wear in the normal way, but are easy to overlook when the fan seems to be the only problem. With a 42-inch canopy overhead, we use proper support and floor protection so nothing marks the cooktop below.
We open with the filters and blower wheel, then the motor, switches and lamps. A written price precedes any work, and our 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
It covers more cooking area, so filters tend to load faster. Regular washing helps, and we check the blower wheel for buildup during a service visit.
An unbalanced wheel shows up most at top speed. We clean the wheel, check the mounting, and replace the wheel or motor only if the wobble remains.
We replace the failed lamp and check the socket. If the socket is burned, we replace that as well so the new lamp does not fail early.
