Wider than the common 36-inch size, the JXI8742DS is a 42-inch island-mount canopy hood meant for larger cooktops and ranges. Its extra width gives more coverage, but the same electric blower has to move the air, so grease and duct restriction show up in how well it clears a busy stovetop.
