JennAir JXI8936DS Perimetric Hood Repair

The JXI8936DS is a 36-inch perimetric canopy hood for island installation. A perimetric design draws air around the outer edge of the canopy, so the outer slots and the filters behind them matter as much as the blower does.
On service calls we check the slots and filters for grease, then test the blower on each speed and the switches that control it. Grease glazed on the edges is a common reason for reduced pull. We also look at the lamp sockets, since lights above an island are used all day for food prep. If the slots look clear and the fan sounds even, we measure the supply at the motor, because a weak connection can cut speed without any noise at all. Cleaning the underside of the canopy is part of the visit.
The price is written down before we start, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
The hood pulls air around its outside edge instead of only through a center panel. We therefore clean and check the edge channels along with the filters, because blockage there reduces capture.
A new whine or flutter often means grease is on the blower wheel or a filter has shifted. We open the housing, inspect the wheel and test the motor before recommending any parts.
Yes. We replace the lamps and, if they keep failing, test the socket and wiring so the new ones last. That is why we replace lamps and test the supply to the socket in the same visit.
