JennAir JXW8936DS Perimetric Wall Repair

The JXW8936DS is a 36-inch wall-mount perimetric canopy hood. Rather than only pulling through a center panel, a perimetric hood draws along its outer edge, so the slots there must stay clear for the hood to capture steam properly.
We check those slots and the filters for grease first, then run the blower at each speed and listen for rubbing or imbalance. The control panel and lamp sockets are tested with a meter. If the hood is quiet but weak, the damper and duct are next. Since the capture is edge-based, we also wipe the lower edge of the canopy, where grease collects first and quietly narrows the intake over time.
You will have a written price before the work starts, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
They are the opening where air enters. When grease narrows them, the same blower pulls less steam, even though nothing is broken. Cleaning them often restores capture. This is why a simple wipe-down of the outside does not restore airflow.
The filters and lower panels come off easily, which gives us access. We only open further if the blower or wiring needs replacing. Our visit includes that cleaning when the intake slots are loaded with grease.
A cleaner wheel and open slots change the airflow and noise. A clearer, steadier sound is normal; a new rattle suggests a filter was not reseated properly. Re-seat each filter after washing and run the fan to check.
