JennAir S136 Classic Wall Oven

The S136 is a classic single electric wall oven from long ago, with straightforward bake and broil elements and simple controls. Many were set into wall cabinets that have not changed since, so owners who like the layout often prefer repair to a remodel.
An oven this old fails in plain, understandable ways. Elements burn through, thermostats drift, knobs and switches loosen, and door springs lose their pull so the door swings shut hard or hangs open slightly. We test element resistance first, then the thermostat or sensor, then every switch contact. We also check the door, because a door that does not close squarely wastes heat. A written price is agreed before work, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Bake and broil use separate elements, so one can burn out alone. We check each with a meter, and replace the one that has an open circuit.
The hinge springs have probably lost tension. We replace them as a pair, and check the hinge arms and door alignment so it closes evenly.
In many cases the thermostat can be adjusted, or replaced if it has drifted too far. We verify with a reference thermometer and tell you what we find before any part is ordered.
