On JennAir electric radiant and touch-control cooktops, an H or HOT in the heat setting window means a surface cooking area is too hot to touch, even after you have turned it off. This is a hot surface reminder. Allow the cooktop to cool. If the H keeps showing or begins flashing, the guidance is to power the cooktop down at the breaker for a minute.
1. Leave the cooking area off and keep hands and cloths away. 2. Wait for the glass to cool. The H or HOT clears when it is safe to touch. 3. If the H is still on or flashing after a long wait, turn off the cooktop's circuit breaker for one minute. 4. Turn the breaker back on. 5. If the H returns, call us.
Both tell you a cooking area is too hot to touch, even if it is turned off. Different cooktops show one or the other. Pans can stay put meanwhile.
Until the surface has cooled enough to touch safely. That can take a half hour or more after high heat, depending on how long you cooked.
Turn the cooktop's breaker off for one minute, then back on. If it still flashes after cooling, call us. We inspect the control and give a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
