F21 means two things on JennAir cooktops, depending on the generation. On the electric cooktop, it reports a problem with the power supply frequency. On the radiant electric and induction cooktops, it reports cooktop overheating: verify the installation and allow about five minutes to cool. The display shows the same F21, so your model decides which applies. Both meanings are protective, so the cooktop will not run normally while the code is showing.
1. Turn every element off. 2. Remove pans and give the cooktop about five minutes to cool. 3. Check that nothing is stored against the underside of the cooktop. 4. Switch the breaker off for one minute, then back on. 5. If F21 comes back on a cool cooktop, call us and mention your model.
No. On the electric cooktop it reports a power supply frequency problem. On the radiant and induction cooktops it reports overheating, with about five minutes of cool-down advised.
Check whether the cooktop was hot when F21 appeared. If it was, let it cool first. If it was cold or the code keeps returning, we can identify the generation from the model number.
It can clear a one-time glitch. If F21 returns, the cause is not a glitch, and we should look at it. You will get a written price before work starts.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
