On JennAir induction cooktops such as the JIC4536KS, the display reads E_2 when the control panel has switched off because of excessively high temperatures. The internal temperature of the electronic parts is too high. Cooking with an empty pan or pot, or starting a zone with nothing in the pan, can trigger it. Wait for the cooktop to cool down before using it again.
1. Turn all zones off and take pans off the cooktop. 2. Wait until the glass and the cabinet below have cooled. 3. Make sure nothing blocks the vents or the space under the cooktop. 4. Restart with a pan that has food or liquid in it. 5. If E2 comes back on a cool cooktop, call us.
On induction, an empty pan heats very fast. The cooktop senses the rise and the electronics can overheat, so the control shuts the panel off. Always add food or liquid first.
Until the cooktop and the space under it feel cool. That varies with how long you cooked, but about half an hour is a sensible starting point before you try a zone again.
The display shows E_2 for this overheating message. If your cooktop is cool and the cookware is correct and the code still appears, call us and we will inspect it.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
