F2 E1 appears on JennAir electric radiant and touch-control cooktops when the keys are not responding the way the control expects. Food, water or other build-up on the keys can hinder responsiveness. If the glass is clean and the code stays, the cooktop control or its wiring may be at issue. The cooktop may beep, ignore touches or refuse to start an element.
1. Turn the cooktop off and switch on the key lock so nothing starts while you clean. 2. Wash the control area with soap and water. 3. Dry it fully with a microfiber towel. 4. Release the key lock and try a single element at a low setting. 5. If F2 E1 returns on a clean, dry panel, call us.
Splatter, steam or a wet cloth can leave film on the keys. The control reads that as unusual touch input. Cleaning with soap and water and drying well usually answers the question.
It stops accidental starts while you wipe the panel. Engage the key lock, clean and dry the glass thoroughly, then release the lock before testing a single element on a low setting.
Then the cooktop control or its wiring may be the cause. We inspect it, explain what we find and quote in writing before any work begins.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
