JennAir wall ovens with a steam function show F7 E4 when the water conductivity sensor, or the wiring tied to it, is having a problem. This sensor checks the water going into the steam system. The display shows F7 E4, and steam cycles may be blocked until the reading is normal. It is a steam-only code, and conventional baking is not the part that is affected.
1. Stop the cycle and let the cavity cool with the door ajar. 2. Empty the water container and rinse it out. 3. Refill with fresh water and seat the container firmly. 4. Try a short steam cycle. If F7 E4 returns, leave steam mode unused and call us.
It measures how well the water carries a small electric signal, which tells the control about the water going into the steam system. F7 E4 means that reading, or its wiring, is not right.
Water with a lot of minerals can leave a film that confuses the sensor. Fresh clean water is worth trying, but a code that stays means the sensor or wiring needs testing.
Yes in most cases, since baking does not rely on the steam sensor. Skip steam modes until the sensor has been checked and the code stays gone.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
