What F8 E2 means

On JennAir built-in wall ovens such as the JJW2830DS and JJW9830DDP, F8 E2 means there may be a problem with the oven cooling fan or its wiring. The fan keeps the control area and cabinet cool while the oven heats. The display shows F8 E2, and the oven may stop heating to protect itself. You may hear the fan fail to spin.

Common causes of F8 E2

  • Cooling fan motor that no longer runs
  • Fan wiring or connector that has loosened
  • Vent path around the fan blocked with lint or debris
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool. 2. Make sure nothing is blocking the vent openings around the oven. 3. Cut power at the breaker for about a minute to let the cooling fan reading reset, then restore it. 4. Listen for the fan when you start a short bake. 5. Keep the oven off and ring us about the cooling fan if F8 E2 returns.

! Why to stop there
  • The fan protects the control from heat, so we do not run the oven without it.
  • Fan replacement often means moving the oven and takes two people.
  • Wiring and the fan motor must be tested before ordering a part.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
