JennAir JEC9530BDS Five-Element Cooktop at 30 Inches

The JEC9530BDS is a 30-inch electric radiant cooktop that fits five radiant elements into the standard width. That is one more than the usual four, so burners sit closer together and a large pan can crowd its neighbor.
The close spacing is the thing to keep in mind when something goes wrong. Heat from one burner warms the wiring and switches near the next, so connections and controls in the middle of the cooktop can wear sooner. When a central element stops working, we look for a switch that has gone soft or a terminal that has darkened.
Our visit covers the power supply, each element in turn, the switch for the one in question, and a check of the glass. You see the price in writing first, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
We test the supply, then the element's resistance, then the switch that feeds it. A dark terminal nearby is also checked. We replace only the part that fails.
Close elements share heat, and a pan sitting off-center changes how each ring performs. If one ring heats more slowly than before, its limiter or element may be weak, and we test them.
Lift pans rather than sliding them, wipe spills on a cool surface, and avoid dropping heavy lids. If you notice a mark that looks like a crack, stop using the cooktop and call us.
