JennAir JED3430GS JX3 Electric Downdraft Cooktop Repair

The JED3430GS is a 30-inch electric cooktop with four element burners on a ceramic glass top, plus the JX3 downdraft vent between the cooking zones. It is usually set into an island or a peninsula, where taking air down through the cooktop keeps the sightline open.
With Dual-Choice elements, a burner can run at a smaller or larger size, so a complaint that one ring will not come on may be about that sizing circuit rather than the whole element. The usual wear is a cold element, a knob or switch that feels loose, and a blower that slows as the filter fills. DuraFinish glass resists marks but does not make the top immune to impact.
We sort the vent from the elements, test the sizing and switch for any ring that misbehaves, and inspect the glass. The price is written before we start, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
On a Dual-Choice element, the extra ring is switched separately. The ring itself, its switch or its connection could be the reason. We test each and quote the one that fails.
Often it is the filter or vent path, not the motor. We clean and inspect those first, then run the blower at each speed. A motor is quoted only if it tests weak.
It helps the surface resist wear, but a hard knock or a cold pan on a hot zone can still damage glass. If you see a crack, stop using the cooktop and call us for a written quote.
