Fixing JennAir JGD3430GS: JX3 Gas Downdraft Cooktop

Across the 30-inch top of the JGD3430GS you get four sealed burners and a JX3 downdraft vent with three fan speeds. The big burner is rated 17,000 BTU for searing and boiling, while the smallest is a 5,000 BTU burner meant for melting and holding a sauce, and continuous grates let a heavy pan slide across.
The burners and the blower fail for unrelated reasons. On the gas side we meet clogged ports, a dirty igniter and a low flame that creeps higher. At the vent, a blower can respond at two speeds and ignore the third, which points to the speed control rather than the motor.
Any gas smell means leave and call the gas utility from outside. Otherwise we clean and test each burner, then run all three fan speeds before we say what needs replacing. The price is in writing before we start, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
We clean the ports and igniter and test the spark, because a weak spark lets gas build before it catches. If the igniter or module fails the test, we quote it before replacing.
A flame that cannot hold the 5,000 BTU low setting usually has a clogged port, a draft or a worn valve. We check the burner cleanliness and the valve, then tell you which one applies.
Not necessarily. A missing speed often means the control or switch, not the motor. We test each speed's output before suggesting a replacement, and you approve the price first.
