JennAir JMC7000 Built-In Microwave Repair

The JMC7000 is an older built-in microwave with electronic touch controls and several power levels. Units like this were fitted into wall cabinets, and many are still running in kitchens where the cabinetry would be costly to change.
Age affects the parts that move and the parts that heat. We check the door latch, hooks and interlock switches, then test power output to see whether the magnetron is still strong. The turntable motor and the keypad come next. If the cavity has grease burns near the waveguide, we point that out because it can spread. Ask us before replacing it: the cabinet cutout, trim and wiring often make a repair the cheaper choice.
Our price is given in writing before work starts, and a 30-day workmanship warranty applies.
If the cavity and door are in good shape, a repair such as a latch, switch or motor usually costs much less than replacing the cabinet cutout and microwave. We tell you honestly when a repair is not worth it.
The magnetron, high-voltage diode or capacitor may have failed, or a door switch is not closing. These parts hold dangerous voltage, so we test them with the unit unplugged and discharged.
It often points to a door switch that is not closing, or a worn latch. We test the switch chain and the control relay. Closing the door firmly does not help if the hooks are worn.
