CVEX4100

JennAir Expressions CVEX4100, CVEX4270 and CVEX4370 Repair

JennAir cooktop

Most common issues on this model

  1. Weak pull at the center vent
  2. Element not heating or heating unevenly
  3. Ceramic glass cracked by an impact or thermal shock
  4. Loose knobs and tired switches

The CVEX4100 is an electric downdraft cooktop from the Expressions line, and it is also sold as the CVEX4270 and CVEX4370. The three share a layout: elements on either side of a center vent, with a duct beneath the cabinet taking the air away.

Because the three numbers cover more than one width, the first thing we do is read the rating plate so we order the right element or switch. After that, the usual suspects are the same as on any electric downdraft: a hot spot that no longer heats evenly, a blower that hums or drags, and glass that has been marked by a dropped pot.

We sort the vent from the elements before opening anything, since an owner often notices a weak vent and a cold element at the same time and assumes they are related. Prices are written up front, and our work carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.

CVEX4100CVEX4100 questions
My cooktop is labeled CVEX4270. Is that the same as the CVEX4100?

They belong to the same Expressions electric family and are serviced the same way. We confirm width and element layout from the rating plate, so the part we quote matches your cooktop.

Why does one side of my cooktop heat less than the other?

It could be a weak element, a bad connection or a worn switch on that side. We test each in turn and replace only the failing part. The price is written first.

Is smoke staying in the kitchen a blower problem?

Possibly, but check the vent opening and filter first. Grease can block airflow. We test the blower speed and the duct, then tell you if it needs cleaning or a motor.
