On JennAir induction cooktops such as the JIC4536KS, the symbol U u appears when the pot is not suitable for induction cooking, is not positioned correctly or is not the right size for the cooking zone selected. If no pot is detected within 30 seconds of making the selection, the cooking zone switches off. It is a prompt, not a breakdown.
1. Turn the zone off. 2. Place a pot made for induction cooking on the zone you want. 3. Center it over the marked circle. 4. Pick the zone and power level again within 30 seconds. 5. If U u shows with a suitable pot, call us.
If no suitable pot is detected within 30 seconds of making the selection, the cooking zone turns itself off. That protects the cooktop and saves energy.
Pots made from ferromagnetic material, such as cast iron, enameled steel or stainless steel designed for induction. Center the pot on the zone you picked.
It becomes a repair problem when a suitable, centered pot is still not detected. Then the detection circuit may need checking, and we quote in writing before any work starts.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
