JennAir JED8130 Earlier JED Downdraft Cooktop Service

The JED8130 is an earlier JED-series electric downdraft cooktop, 30 inches wide with a ceramic glass top, and it is also sold as the JED8130ADB and JED8130ADW00. The B and W endings refer to finish versions, not different cooking hardware.
These cooktops have been in service long enough that wear is expected. Elements lose their even heat, knobs become loose on the switch shafts, and the vent motor slowly tires as grease builds up in the filter and duct. A cracked top is the most disruptive event, because it takes the entire surface out of use until it is replaced.
A visit begins with the rating plate, so we can confirm which version you have, and then we test each element and the vent. We quote the price in writing before starting, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.
They are finish versions of the same cooktop, so elements are normally shared. We still check the rating plate before ordering, to be sure the part fits yours.
Stop using that area. A thin line can be a crack that widens with heat. We inspect the glass, tell you if the top needs replacing, and give you a written quote.
A multimeter test tells us. If the element has continuity but gets no power, the switch or wiring is suspect. If it has no continuity, the element has failed. We explain which one applies.
