JennAir JIDT836SBL Black Glass Downdraft Cooktop (36 Inches) Repair

The JIDT836SBL is the 36-inch version of the NextGen downdraft induction cooktop, finished in black. It sits in a counter cutout with the vent running down through the cabinet, which is why we see it most on islands and long runs of counter with no wall for a hood.
A wide cooktop like this has more zones to wear unevenly. One zone losing power while the rest work points to that zone’s coil or its driver electronics, not the whole unit. The downdraft path also needs attention, because airflow drops as the filter and duct fill with grease.
Our first visit covers a pan test on every zone, a blower check and a look at the cabinet space below. You approve a written price first, and repairs come with a 30-day warranty.
A single dead zone usually means a problem with that zone's coil or the electronics driving it, not the entire cooktop. We test it with a magnetic pan, compare it with its neighbors and then quote the repair.
If you cook with oil or sear often, check them monthly. A greasy filter weakens airflow and loads the blower. We can clean and test the whole vent path during a service visit.
A cracked top needs a replacement glass panel and cannot be patched safely. We confirm the damage, check that the electronics under it are fine and give you the price before ordering anything.
