On JennAir built-in refrigerators such as the JB36NXFXLW, JCB2285KEF or JSD2374ARB, the door alarm sounds when a refrigerator door or the freezer drawer stays open for 2 to 5 minutes, depending on the model, while cooling is on. It repeats every 2 minutes until all doors are shut. Column models wait 5 minutes. The alarm is a courtesy, not a sign of damage.
1. Close every door and the freezer drawer firmly. 2. Look for items sticking out of shelves or bins that keep a door from closing all the way. 3. To silence the alarm while you clean with the door open, touch any button on the control as your owner's manual describes. 4. Check that the gasket is clean and lies flat around the door.
Between 2 and 5 minutes with the door or drawer open, depending on the model, and only when cooling is on. Column models use the 5-minute delay. After that it repeats every 2 minutes.
Yes. You can touch a button on the control to mute the audible alarm while the doors stay open, as the owner's manual for your model explains. Closing the doors resets it fully.
The door may not be seated, perhaps from a bin or shelf in the way. Reseat the contents and close it again. If it still sounds, call us and we will check the door sensing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
