What PO means

On JennAir built-in refrigerators such as the JB36NXFXLW, JCB2285KEF or JFC2089BEP, PO stands for Power Outage. The control shows it when the power was off and the freezer temperature rose to 18 degrees F (minus 8 C) or higher. The display reads PO, an alert tone sounds three times, and Confirm blinks until you press MEASURED FILL under Confirm to acknowledge the outage.

Common causes of PO

  • A power outage long enough for the freezer to reach 18 degrees F or higher
  • A tripped breaker or unplugged unit that cut power for a while
  • A loose power connection that interrupted the supply
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press MEASURED FILL under the blinking Confirm to acknowledge the outage. 2. Check the freezer food: if it is still hard with ice crystals, it is usually fine, but throw out anything that has thawed and sat warm. 3. Confirm the breaker is on and the plug is seated. 4. Keep the doors closed while the temperature recovers.

! Why to stop there
  • PO reports that an outage happened, so there is nothing to repair in the unit itself.
  • Your time is better spent checking the food and the breaker.
  • If the power is steady and PO keeps coming back, we can look for a loose supply or a control issue and give you a written price first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

POPO questions
What temperature triggers PO?

The freezer has to rise to 18 degrees F (minus 8 C) or higher after the power was off. When that happens, the display reads PO and an alert tone sounds three times so you know.

How do I clear PO?

Press MEASURED FILL under the blinking Confirm to acknowledge the outage. Once you have acknowledged it, the control goes back to its normal display and the blinking stops.

Is my frozen food safe?

Check it item by item. Food that is still frozen hard is generally fine. Anything that thawed and sat warm should go. If you are unsure about an item, discard it rather than risk it.
