What E:12 means

The JennAir flush-mount dishwasher for European cabinets, for example the JDB9600AW, shows E:12 when an NTC temperature sensor reads outside its permitted resistance range. The machine then operates without the auxiliary drying system. The washing itself continues. The code is listed in service mode, and you notice damp dishes at the end of the program. It is a sensing issue, not a washing issue, and the cycle still completes with the usual wash and rinse.

Common causes of E:12

  • NTC sensor resistance outside the permitted range
  • Sensor wire or plug damaged
  • Sensor failed
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Briefly kill the power at the breaker, then turn it back on. 2. Run a short program and open the door slightly at the end. 3. If E:12 returns, keep the washing going if you wish, and call us for the sensor test. Please do not remove panels to look for the sensor.

! Why to stop there
  • Telling a bad sensor from a bad connection needs a meter.
  • The sensor is behind the lower panel near water paths.
  • Replacing the wrong part wastes money.
  • We test first and give a written price before ordering.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E:12E:12 questions
How is E:12 different from E:11?

E:11 loses the heater when its sensor is out of range; E:12 loses the auxiliary drying system. Both involve an NTC reading outside its permitted values.

Does the machine still wash properly?

Yes, according to the listing it operates without the auxiliary drying. Expect damp dishes and use a towel or open the door slightly after the program.

What would you replace?

Only the part that fails testing: the sensor, a wire or a plug. We explain the result, quote in writing and stand behind the work for 30 days.
