On JennAir electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges with electronic oven control, such as the JES1750FS and JDS1750ML, F5 means there may be a problem with the oven door latch assembly, the door latch switches, or the associated wiring. The control cannot confirm where the latch is, so clean cycles and sometimes baking are blocked, and the display shows F5. The cooktop usually keeps working.
1. Press Cancel and give the oven time to cool before you work with the door. 2. Open the door and clear any foil or rack catching the frame. 3. Close the door slowly and wait for it to seat. 4. Switch the breaker off for a minute, then back on. 5. Try a short bake. If the door stays locked or F5 returns, call us.
The latch may not have moved. Let the oven cool, reset power, and do not pry the door, because a latch sometimes frees itself. If it stays locked, we can release it safely without damage.
It can, depending on when the latch check fails. Many ovens refuse to start any cycle until the control can confirm the latch position, so bake and clean may both be blocked.
F5 E0 is the closely related version that names the door switch, while plain F5 is the general latch code. Both begin with the same check of the door, its seating and the latch.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
