On JennAir induction cooktops, E_21 shows that the cooktop is too hot. The control panel has switched off because of excessively high temperatures, and the internal temperature of the electronic parts is too high. The only instruction is to wait for the cooktop to cool down before you use it again. Zones will not run until it has. The display stays on the code until the temperature drops.
1. Turn all zones off. 2. Remove pans from the cooktop. 3. Let the cooktop cool for at least 20 to 30 minutes. 4. Check that cabinet vents and the space below are clear. 5. Restart on a lower power level. If E_21 shows on a cold cooktop, call us.
Turn off all zones, remove pans and let the cooktop cool. Nothing else is asked for until it has cooled down, so patience is the whole fix.
It can, if the cooktop runs hot for long periods. Use a lower power level and make sure air can move around the unit and under the glass.
Call us if it appears on a cool cooktop or keeps coming back after a full cool-down. We then inspect it and give a written price before any work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
