F6E4 on a JennAir electric radiant or touch-control cooktop means the user interface, or keypad, and the user interface control have lost communication. The keys and the control behind them are no longer talking. As a result, the cooktop may ignore touches, shut off or display F6E4. It points us to the keypad link first. Elements may also switch off unexpectedly.
1. Switch everything off and let the glass cool. 2. Dry the touch area. 3. Interrupt the power at the breaker for around a minute and restore it afterward. 4. Try an element on low. If F6E4 stays on the display, call us. Please do not press the keys repeatedly or open anything.
The keypad you touch sends signals to a control. F6E4 says those signals are not arriving. It can be a wire, the keypad or the control.
A reset can clear a momentary loss of contact for a while. If F6E4 returns, the link or one of the two parts needs repair.
Turn all elements off when you are not at the stove. Until we check the cooktop, do not rely on it. We quote repairs in writing.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
