F12 has two meanings on JennAir cooktops, depending on the generation. On the electric cooktop, it points to a problem with a hotplate (cooking surface, burner or element) or its wiring. On the radiant-element touch cooktops, F12 reports an internal communication error on the touch control module. Which one applies depends on the model, and the display shows the same F12 either way.
1. Turn all elements off and let the glass cool. 2. Clean the touch panel and make sure nothing rests on it. 3. Turn the cooktop's breaker off for one minute and back on. 4. Try one element at a low setting. 5. If F12 returns, stop and call us with your model number.
JennAir used the code on two generations. One reports a hotplate or its wiring, and the other a touch control communication error. Your model number tells us which applies.
If the cooktop still lets you, light use may work, but a hotplate or wiring problem can get worse. We suggest booking a visit rather than relying on it.
Yes. We diagnose first, tell you which of the two causes applies to your cooktop, and give you a written price before any work begins. Repairs are covered by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
