On JennAir wall ovens like the JJW2830LL and JJW9830DDP, the code 1c81 reports a possible problem with the oven control or the wiring to it. It is another message from the control family, so the board that coordinates heating, timing and safety is the main suspect. The screen shows 1c81, and heating usually stops. Combination ovens with a microwave section also carry this code. Several seconds of beeping often come with it.
1. Cancel the cycle and leave the oven alone for a few minutes. 2. Turn off the breaker for two minutes, then on. 3. Look for the display to return to the time of day. 4. If 1c81 flashes again, switch the oven off and book a visit.
Both say the oven control or its wiring may have a problem. The last digit is part of how the control names its check, and the repair path is the same for both.
A brownout can upset a control, and a reset may clear it. If it repeats without an outage, the board or its wiring is the more likely cause.
We check the supply to the oven, then the connectors at the control, and then test the control itself. That order avoids replacing a good board.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
