On JennAir built-in wall ovens such as the JJW2830DS and JJW2427DS, F5 means there may be a problem with the oven door latch assembly, the door latch switches, or the wiring that serves them. The control uses those switches to confirm the door is locked or unlocked. The display shows F5, and the oven may not complete a locked cycle.
1. Press Cancel and let the oven cool if it was hot. 2. Open the door fully and check the seal for debris. 3. Close it with a firm push. 4. Turn the oven breaker off, count to sixty, and turn it on so the latch assembly check starts fresh. 5. Should F5 return, leave the oven off and tell us it is the latch assembly.
The plain F5 covers the door latch assembly and its switches. The versions with an E digit narrow it to the lower oven or a particular check.
Often a regular bake still starts, but the latch problem can return at any time. We would rather you stop and have it checked. Do not pry at the lock with tools, because that can break the latch assembly.
Latch work is often done in one visit when the part is in stock. You approve a written price first, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
