JennAir built-in wall ovens such as the JJW2427DS and JJW8530DDS show F5E2 when the control detects a problem with the door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring tied to them. The oven checks the door position every time you start a cycle, so the code usually appears when you try to bake, broil or clean. The display shows F5E2 with a tone, and the cycle will not begin until the door reads as properly closed.
1. Press Cancel to clear the display. 2. Open the door fully and close it again with a firm push. 3. Look for food debris, foil or a gasket fold that could keep the door from closing all the way. 4. Switch the oven breaker off for a minute, then on again. 5. If F5E2 returns on the next start, leave the oven off and book a visit.
The official meaning only points at the latch, the door switch or the wiring. A clean cycle uses the latch heavily, so the code may show up then, but it does not by itself mean the clean cycle damaged anything.
The control does not look at the door, it reads the switch and latch signals. A switch that does not click or a latch that does not report its position will trigger F5E2 even on a door that appears shut.
A cleared code with no repeat is fine to cook with. If F5E2 comes back within a few uses, the latch or switch is likely weakening, and it is better to have it tested before a self-clean locks you out.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
