What F6 E2 means

On JennAir built-in wall ovens such as the JJW9830DDP, F6 E2 means there may be a problem with the appliance manager control, the converter control, or the wiring. These boards manage how the oven's power and functions are coordinated. The display shows F6 E2, and the oven may lose some or all of its functions. The display may go dark and then return with the code showing.

Common causes of F6 E2

  • Appliance manager control failing
  • Converter control not supplying what the oven needs
  • Wiring between the control boards that is loose or damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and wait for the display. 2. Leave the breaker off for a minute, then turn the oven on and watch the converter control result. 3. Restore power and see if the clock appears. 4. Try a short bake. 5. Still seeing F6 E2? Stop here and call for service on the converter control.

! Why to stop there
  • There are two boards in play, and replacing the wrong one is costly.
  • Both boards sit on the electrical side of the oven and stay energized.
  • A proper diagnosis includes the wiring between the boards.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F6 E2F6 E2 questions
What is a converter control?

It is a board that conditions power for the oven's electronics. If it misbehaves, the appliance manager cannot work, and F6 E2 appears. These two boards are the control center for the power and functions of the oven.

Could F6 E2 clear on its own?

A reset may clear a one-time glitch. If it comes back, the boards or wiring need a technician. Resetting the breaker is fine once, but repeated resets will not repair a failing board.

Will you check the wiring before the boards?

Yes. We test the harness and connectors first, quote the price in writing and stand behind our work for 30 days. We test the harness between the boards before replacing either one.
