On JennAir built-in microwaves, microwave drawers and combination wall oven microwave sections, for example the JMC2430LL or JMC2430DS, F1 E3 means there may be a problem with the Microwave Appliance Manager or the associated wiring. The manager is the board that directs the microwave functions. With F1 E3, the microwave may not start, may stop mid-cycle or may lose its display.
1. Press Stop/Cancel, then shut the door. 2. Reset power by turning the breaker off and on once. 3. Check that the clock shows. 4. Try a short test with a cup of water. 5. If F1 E3 returns, leave the unit off and call us.
It is the control board that manages the microwave functions in a built-in unit. When it fails, the microwave loses direction, so cycles will not start or stop at odd times.
It may, but check for errors first. If the oven shows problems too, turn the breaker off and call us, since both sections share a power feed and some electronics.
It may restore the display briefly after a glitch. If F1 E3 returns, the manager or its wiring needs testing, and we will quote the repair in writing before any work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
