JennAir built-in microwaves and combination ovens, such as the JMC2430DS, can show F5 E5 when there may be a problem with the Main Oven Door Latch Assembly, the Door Switch, or the wiring that links them to the control. The unit cannot verify that the door is secured. The code appears on the display and the appliance will not begin heating.
1. Look for a bent tray, towel, or packaging that could be holding the door off its seat. 2. Shut the door fully and press Cancel. 3. Turn off the breaker for a minute, then back on. 4. Try a brief cycle. If F5 E5 is still there, call us; do not disassemble the door.
A lasting code means the door latch, the switch, or the wiring has a real defect. Resets only help with a one-off glitch. Tell us if the code returns right after a reset, as that timing helps us.
On a combination unit the latch serves the whole door, so we advise waiting for service. We can often fix it during one visit. Please keep the door shut meanwhile.
Costs vary with which part is bad. We always quote in writing first, so you can decide with the full price in hand. The cost is clear before we start.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
