On JennAir electric radiant and touch-control cooktops, a display that begins with the letter U has three possible meanings. U can mean no pan is detected on the cooking area, in which case you should place a suitable utensil on it. U can also show that the Keep Warm function is on. Less often, it can point to a problem with the electrical power supply.
1. Check the cooking area. Place a suitable, flat-bottomed utensil on the desired area. 2. Look at the control to see whether Keep Warm is on and switch it off if you do not want it. 3. If U stays with a pan in place and Keep Warm off, turn the cooktop's breaker off for one minute and back on. 4. If U returns, call us.
It may mean no pan is detected, the Keep Warm function is active, or there is a power supply issue. Check for a pan and for Keep Warm first.
Turn the Keep Warm function off at the control for that cooking area. The U goes away once Keep Warm is off and the area has no pan.
Call us if U remains with a suitable pan and Keep Warm off, and a breaker reset does not help. Then the supply or control needs a technician, and you get a written price first.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
