E_H on JennAir induction cooktops, such as the JIC4536XS, means the control panel switched off because of excessively high temperatures. The internal temperature of the electronic parts is too high. The only instruction is to wait for the cooktop to cool down before using it again. Zones will not heat until the cooktop has cooled, and the code stays on the display.
1. Switch off all zones. 2. Clear pans from the cooktop. 3. Let it cool until the glass is cool to the touch. 4. Keep the space under the cooktop free of stored items. 5. Restart at moderate power. If E_H returns on a cold cooktop, call us.
It is simply part of the code. The meaning is overheating: the control panel switched off from high internal temperature. Wait before cooking again. Give the glass time to cool too.
The code usually clears and the zones respond again. Glass that feels cool to the touch is a good sign that the electronics are cooling too.
Then something else may be at work. Call us for an inspection, and we give a written price before any work is done. The unit stays safe meanwhile.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
