On JennAir electric radiant and touch-control cooktops, F1E1 means communication was lost between the user interface, which is the keypad, and the appliance manager. The two boards no longer exchange information, so the cooktop may ignore touches, shut elements off or show F1E1 as soon as power returns. The glass, the pans and the elements themselves are not what the code is reporting.
1. Turn all controls off and let the glass cool. 2. Shut off the cooktop's breaker for one minute, then switch it on again. 3. Wipe the touch panel clean and dry. 4. Try one element on low. 5. If F1E1 returns, leave the cooktop off and book a visit.
Not necessarily. It means two internal parts stopped communicating with each other. The elements may still be fine, but the control will not let you use them reliably until the link is restored.
Yes. A surge or outage can upset communication between the boards. A breaker reset helps if that was the trigger. If the code is back after a reset, we need to inspect.
We test the connection and each board, then show you what we find. You get a written price first, and the repair is backed by our 30-day workmanship warranty.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
