What F25 means

F25 on JennAir electric radiant and touch-control cooktops indicates a problem with the power supply to the cooktop. The control is not getting the electrical supply it needs. You may find that elements will not heat, shut off mid-use or show F25 right after the cooktop is switched on. Cookware has no effect on this code. It also tells you the cooktop itself may be perfectly sound.

Common causes of F25

  • A tripped or weak breaker feeding the cooktop
  • A loose connection at the cooktop's supply terminals
  • A supply that drops or fluctuates under load
  • A control that is failing to read the supply correctly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn off all elements. 2. Check the household panel to see if the cooktop's breaker has tripped. If it has, switch it fully off and then on once. 3. Try one element at low heat. 4. If F25 returns or the breaker trips again, leave the cooktop off. 5. Call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Supply wiring carries high current, and loose terminals can overheat.
  • A breaker that keeps tripping is a warning, so resetting it repeatedly is not safe.
  • Telling a household supply issue from a cooktop control issue needs meters and training.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F25F25 questions
Is F25 a cooktop failure or a house wiring issue?

It could be either. The code only tells us the power supply to the cooktop is the problem. We test where the supply stops being right.

My breaker tripped. Should I keep resetting it?

No. Reset it once at most. If it trips again, leave it off and call us, since repeated trips can point to a short circuit that should not be energized again.

Do you check the supply and the cooktop?

Yes. We test the supply at the cooktop and the cooktop control, and tell you which side has the problem. You get a written price first, and repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
