What E:24 means

For the JennAir flush-mount dishwasher made for European cabinets, such as the JDB9600AW, E:24 is a drain pump message that ends the program. Water is not leaving the tub as it should. The causes include a leaky non-return valve, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a drain outlet set at the wrong height, a missing pump cover, or a blocked drain pump on early production units.

Common causes of E:24

  • Drain hose kinked, blocked or routed at the wrong height
  • Non-return valve leaking
  • Pump cover missing
  • Drain pump blocked
✓ One safe check you can try

1. With the breaker off for a minute, the control restarts fresh once it is on again. 2. Clean the filter under running water. 3. If you can see the drain hose under the sink, check it for kinks and see that it rises high enough before dropping to the drain. 4. If a disposer is connected, make sure its knockout plug is removed. 5. Run a short program. If E:24 stays, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • Pump covers and non-return valves are inside the lower area of the machine.
  • A wrong hose height can be a plumbing install question that needs the unit pulled out.
  • Standing dirty water in the tub is unpleasant and can leak when the door opens.
  • We find the actual blockage and quote the fix in writing first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

E:24E:24 questions
Does a kinked hose really cause E:24?

Yes. A hose that is kinked, pinched or blocked is one of the listed reasons. It is the first thing we check because it is cheap to fix and common after installs.

What is the non-return valve?

It keeps drained water from flowing back into the tub. If it leaks, water returns and the pump cannot clear the tub, which leads to this message.

Can I run the machine again?

You can try a rinse after cleaning the filter and checking the hose. If the water still stays, stop and call us so we can find the cause and give a written price.
