What F3 E1 means

The JennAir built-in microwave family, including drawer models and the microwave cavity of combination ovens like the JMC2430LL, uses F3 E1 to flag a possible problem with the Lower Oven Temperature Sensor, the control, or the wiring. When the lower cavity reading drops out, the appliance cannot control heat there. Expect the code on the display and little or no heating in that section.

Common causes of F3 E1

  • Lower Oven Temperature Sensor reading as an open circuit
  • Control misreading the lower sensor input
  • Loose or worn wiring in the sensor circuit
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Cancel any cycle and give the unit time to cool. 2. Switch off its breaker for a minute, then switch it back on. 3. Try a short test cycle in the lower section. 4. If F3 E1 shows once more, stop and call us. Leave all panels closed and do not try to move the sensor.

! Why to stop there
  • A thin sensor lead can look intact but be broken inside.
  • Measuring resistance and checking connectors tells us whether the sensor or control is to blame.
  • A guess can cost you a second repair visit.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F3 E1F3 E1 questions
Where is the lower oven sensor?

It sits in the lower cooking space and reports temperature to the control. You should not need to find it yourself, because we test it with instruments.

Why is only F3 E1 showing and not F3 E0?

Each cavity reports separately. F3 E1 belongs to the lower oven sensor, so the upper sensor can be healthy at the same time. That is why a code for one cavity never proves anything about the other.

How is the repair priced?

We give a written price before starting any work and back the repair with a 30-day workmanship warranty. That covers the sensor and the labor to fit it, with no surprises later.
