Showing up on JennAir built-in microwave drawers and microwave cavities of combination wall ovens such as the JMC2430DS, F5 E1 means there may be a problem with the Main Oven Door Latch Assembly, the Door Switch, or the wiring. In practice the unit cannot trust what the door is telling it. You will see the code, and cooking will not begin until the issue is resolved.
1. Open the door and inspect the latch area for spills or debris, wiping with a damp cloth when the unit is cool. 2. Close the door slowly and listen for a click. 3. Turn the breaker off for one minute and restore it. 4. If F5 E1 returns, stop and call us.
It tells you the door circuit is suspect. The latch, the door switch, or the wiring may be responsible, and the unit refuses to run until the door status is clear.
Residue can stop the door from seating fully, so cleaning is worth a try. If the code stays after the door closes cleanly, the latch or switch is the likely cause.
Usually not. Most of the time the latch assembly or switch is replaced on its own, and we confirm the price before starting. Even then, the door may need an alignment check, which we do during the same visit.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
