F6 on a JennAir over-the-range microwave hood, for instance the JMV9196CS or a JMV8000 series unit, says the oven could not execute the function. The guidance names the relay control board and its wiring. The microwave may stop heating, power off or refuse a new cycle. JennAir built-in microwaves show F6 for the oven control instead, so the model matters.
1. Press Stop/Cancel first and leave the door open for a moment. 2. Flip the breaker off, count to sixty, and flip it on. 3. Check the display lights up normally. 4. Test with a cup of water for thirty seconds. 5. If F6 returns, stop using the unit and call us.
It switches power to the heating and fan parts on command from the control. When it cannot do that, the control reports F6 because the function you asked for did not happen.
It sometimes does after a surge. If it stays away, fine. If it returns within days, the board is likely failing and should be tested.
Both name the relay control board on the hood, so the repair area overlaps. We read the unit's behavior and measure the board to confirm.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
