What F8 E1 means

JennAir built-in microwaves and combination wall oven microwave cavities, for example the JMC2430LL, display F8 E1 when there may be a problem with an airflow restriction, the Oven Cooling Fan, or the wiring. Cooling air must flow properly or the control will limit operation. The code shows on the display, and the unit may stop heating until it has cooled.

Common causes of F8 E1

  • Vent or air path restricted
  • Oven Cooling Fan not turning at the right speed
  • Wiring or connector to the fan damaged
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the unit off and wait an hour. 2. Look for stored items, cloth, or packaging near the vents and remove them. 3. Switch the breaker off for a minute, then on. 4. Start a short cycle and listen for the fan. If F8 E1 shows again, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The fan is inside the housing and cannot be reached safely.
  • A noisy or weak fan will soon fail completely.
  • Cabinet clearance problems need an in-person look.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F8 E1F8 E1 questions
How can I tell if the fan is running?

You usually hear a soft whirr when the unit is on. If you hear nothing or a grinding sound, tell us when you call. That gives us a quick clue about the fan.

Is it okay to keep using the unit with F8 E1?

We suggest not. Without proper cooling, electronics can overheat and fail, turning a small fix into a bigger one. Turn it off and wait for it to cool.

Does the warranty cover the repair?

Our repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty, and we give you the price in writing before work begins. Parts are quoted separately from labor so you see each cost.
