JennAir wall ovens, among them the JJW9830DDP and JJW8530DDS, show 4d22 when the cooling fan speed is too low. The control lists an airflow restriction, the oven cooling fan, or the wiring as the possible reasons. The fan protects the control and cabinet from heat. You will see 4d22 on the display, and the oven may stop heating until the fan speed returns to normal.
1. Cancel the cycle and let the oven cool with the door open. 2. Check that cabinet vents and the gap around the oven are clear. 3. Cut power at the breaker for two minutes. 4. Restore power and run a short test. If 4d22 reappears, call us.
If the cabinet blocks the vents or the oven is installed without the required air gap, airflow drops. We check the install clearance when we test the fan.
It continues to cool the electronics. That is normal. The code means that cooling is not strong enough, not that the fan runs afterward. A slow fan, by contrast, leaves heat behind in the cabinet and electronics.
Not always. A noisy fan can still be slow if the bearings are worn. The control cares about measured speed, so noise alone does not tell us the cause.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
