On JennAir double wall ovens such as the JJW9830DDP, F3 E5 means there may be a problem with the lower oven temperature sensor, the control, or the wiring. The lower cavity depends on its own sensor to hold temperature. You will see F3 E5 on the display, and the lower oven may not heat or may hold the wrong temperature.
1. Press Cancel and let the lower oven cool completely. 2. Try the upper oven alone to see whether it works. 3. Flip the breaker off for one full minute, then back on, which clears a stuck lower oven sensor signal. 4. Run a short bake in the lower oven. 5. Still seeing F3 E5? Stop here and call for service on the lower oven sensor.
The code concerns the lower cavity. The upper oven may keep working, though we recommend a check so the problem does not spread. The upper oven runs on its own sensor, so it is not part of this alert.
It identifies the lower oven sensor check that failed. JennAir lists the same cause for a few neighboring numbers, so we read the full code.
