On JennAir double wall ovens such as the JJW9830DDP and JJW8530DDS, F5 E4 means there may be a problem with the lower oven door latch assembly, the door switch, or the associated wiring. Only the bottom cavity is involved. You will see F5 E4 on the display, and the lower oven may not lock, unlock or start a cycle. The code appears on the lower cavity display.
1. Press Cancel and open the lower door all the way. 2. Clean the lower door seal if there is debris, once the oven is cool. 3. Close the door firmly. 4. Cut power at the breaker for about a minute to let the lower door latch reading reset, then restore it. 5. A repeat of F5 E4 means the lower door latch needs a visit from us.
The code names the lower oven door latch. The upper oven often keeps working, but we recommend a check so the problem does not grow.
Each cavity locks independently for safety during self-clean, so each has its own latch and switch. Each cavity has its own latch and switches so each can lock safely during a cleaning cycle.
We test the latch, switch and wiring, quote in writing and replace what has failed. The work is covered by a 30-day workmanship warranty. A written price comes before we begin, and a 30-day warranty follows our work.
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
