What F6 E8 means

JennAir combination wall ovens with a microwave show F6 E8 when there may be a problem with the microwave appliance manager control or the wiring. On the older JMW2430D series it means communication with the microwave oven appliance manager was lost, with the manager and the user interface in question. The microwave stops and the display holds the code. The microwave may refuse to start, and keys on that side may not respond.

Common causes of F6 E8

  • Microwave appliance manager that is no longer communicating
  • User interface connection on JMW2430D-series ovens
  • Wiring between the manager and the main control
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Press Cancel and try a microwave key. 2. Turn the oven breaker off, count to sixty, and turn it on so the manager link check starts fresh. 3. Run a short water test if the keys respond. 4. Do not remove any trim. 5. If F6 E8 will not stay cleared, contact us for a diagnosis of the manager link.

! Why to stop there
  • A lost link can come from either end, so we test both boards and the cable.
  • Pulling trim on a built-in can damage ribbon cables.
  • The older JMW2430D design adds the user interface to the list.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F6 E8F6 E8 questions
What does lost communication mean?

The microwave manager and the main control are no longer exchanging information. The cause can be a board, the interface or the wiring between them.

Is F6 E8 caused by a power cut?

A brief interruption can interrupt communication, so one reset is worth trying. If the code stays, the link needs a technician. One breaker reset costs nothing and is safe to try before you call.

Can the microwave side be repaired?

Yes. We diagnose, quote in writing and repair it with a 30-day workmanship warranty on our work. A written quote and a 30-day warranty come with every repair we complete.
